Simplicity
Sounds awfully simple, doesn’t it? grin.
For some it is, for other’s it’s not.
I’m one of the others.
I love simplicity. Yet it does not come easily to me.
I love the idea of it. I love living it. I love experiencing it. I’m happiest when I’m in the midst of it. I actually crave it.
I have this tendency to BE in it sometimes. It feels amazing, peaceful and just right.
And then something happens – I lose my focus. Get distracted. Get caught up in reacting to things around me rather than living purposefully and in the moment. And the the next thing I know there are a stack of papers sitting next to me on one side and Leo Babauta’s book, “The Power of LESS” on the other side.
And I’ve learned to just smile, shake my head, put things in order, and get back to focusing on that ONE thing. Focusing on ONE for a scheduled period of time – and I protect this time from all distractions unless there’s a real emergency.
It’s sort of like “Zen Productivity”! I’m not sure if any one’s coined that, but I get in this incredible zone that feels amazing, productive and simple in focus, and it’s just plain beautiful.
So if you are struggling with clutter, lack of focus, lack of productivity, unrest, inability to create or reach goals, or even just a sense of unhappiness. I recommend that you pick up a copy of Leo Babauta’s book, The Power of LESSfrom your local bookstore, or Amazon.com
Carve out some time. Create a relaxing environment for yourself and read it.
Then find that ONE thing that you want and need to focus on - make a priority in your life – and do it.
Leo Babauta says: 1. Identify the essential. 2. Eliminate the rest.
Sound simple? It is. It works.
Here’s to you. ~Kate
