I’m reading “Dare to Dream…Then Do It. What Successful People Know and Do” by John C. Maxwell.
The author is known as an expert on leadership, and works with Fortune 500 companies, the US Military Academy at Westpoint, sports organizations (NCAA, NBA, NFL), as well as authored best selling books. He doesn’t just talk about dreams and success or simply write about it, he’s doing it. Realizing his dreams. He’s someone I trust and listen to. It’s one of the steps I’m taking in aligning success for myself, my family, and my business.
What’s the difference between a Daring Dream and a Day Dream?
Daring Dreams can be great things. They have changed the world (Galileo, Lindbergh, Ford, Ray Kroc, FJK, Martin Luther King, Jr to name a few). They fire you up and move you foward. Day Dreams are wishful thinking.
Start by defining your Dream. If you could do anything, what would it be?
Pursuing our Dreams starts with the way we think and dream, and it continues with how we live. Associate with and learn from successful people that you respect and admire. Spend time with them. Learn from them. Then do it; achieve your dream.
Here’s a quick synopsis of the chapters:
- Commit to Your True Dream
- Believe in Yourself
- Think Differently
- Take Action
- Develop Great People Skills
- Stay with Your Strengths
- Get Out of Your Comfort Zone
- Never Stop Learning
- Never Give Up
Self-confidence is the first requisite to great undertakings. -Samuel Johnson
I LOVE this quote from Marie Curie, Winnter of Nobel Prizes in Physics and Chemistry:
Life is not easy for any of us. But what of that? We must have perseverance and, above all, confidence in ourselves. We must believe that we are gifted for something, and that this thing, at whatever cost, must be attained.
Define your Dream. Visualize yourself there - and how you feel as you realize and live out that dream. Now, take that first step Today. And never, never quit.
I leave you with one of my favorite quotes by Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe:
Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, Begin It. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.
