Interested in Niche Marketing?
Every where you turn, people recommend that if you want to enter the world of a niche online business – or even when starting a blog – that you design it around something that you are passionate about, good at, or considered to be a “go to” person for.
When I first tried to get my head around that, I resisted it, couldn’t seem to see it, and thought that maybe, just maybe they are ALL wrong. : D
Well, it gets easier!
Taking the time (I recommend that you limit the amount of time you will spend on this to 2-3 days.) to consider and evaluate this very thing will save you time, money, and potentially even determine whether or not you are successful. Just don’t get stalled here – complete it and move on to the next steps.
Let’s get started by making a list of the following:
What do you like? | What do you enjoy? | What interests you? | What are you passionate about?
Whatever you are considering your “niche” to be, do you LIKE it? Choose something that you like. You will be more likely to instill true passion and energy into it if it is something you enjoy and know something about.
Not sure what your Niche coud be? Brainstorm ideas! What are your hobbies, interests, expert areas, family interests, kid interests, passions. Now make a list of 5-10 under each of these. Start with a broad base and narrow it down.
Is there a demand for it (online OR offline)? How do you determine this?
Check the number of searches and websites dedicated to the niche(s) you are thinking about on major search engines.
Along with that, check to see if there are sites currently marketing/selling products in your niche(s).
Look at www.magazines.com, walk through a major book store and browse the magazine section. If there’s a successful magazine covering it – there’s a demand.
Amazon.com is another great place to research. Check the Book-Magazines & Newspapers section. The more magazines you see, the bigger the market! Are there books published in your niche(s)?
Now think about WHO is going to BENEFIT from your niche/information? Be as specific as possible; gender, age groups, job categories, etc.
With this information defined, you are well on your way to narrowing down the niche(s) you will be successful with online.
There are many good Niche Marketing Programs out there. Do your research, and above all, stay WITHIN your budget. I found a great program that’s comprehensive, credibe, incredibly reasonable and provides great value.
